Motorised Indexing Probe Heads
Motorised
probe heads give CMM users great flexibility
A motorised probe head gives a DCC machine the added capability of probe reorientation,
allowing the probe to inspect features at the optimum angle.
Motorised indexing heads, such as Renishaw's PH10 range, enable the probe to be orientated
to 720 repeatable positions. Combined with extension bars of up to 300mm, they give
accessibility to the most difficult-to-reach workpiece features.
Controlled indexing heads for flexible and precision re-orientation of your probes
Renishaw's motorised indexing heads range comprises three PH10 models and the smaller
PH50.
PH10M
The PH10M and PH10MQ can carry long extension bars and complex probes such as SP600M
or TP7M. The advantage of the highly repeatable autojoint is that it allows rapid
probe or extension bar changing without the need for re-qualification.
PH10MQ
The PH10MQ is a variant of the PH10M that allows the motorised head to be attached
directly to the quill with the B axis of the head inside the quill itself. This option
provides a neater and shorter probe mount, with only the A axis protruding from the
quill.
PH10T
The PH10T is an M8 version of the PH10M. All M8 threaded probes and extension bars
fit directly onto the head. The PH10T is fully compatible with all of Renishaw's stylus
and module change systems.
PH50
The PH50 motorised probe head system is a compact, cost-effective motorised head system
designed specifically for users of small DCC CMMs typically with axis lengths less
than 0.5m.
PS1 Servo Positioning Head
The
PHS1 servo positioning head features continuous servo drive in 2 axes, enabling the
probe configuration to be positioned at almost any angle. It is designed to meet the
arduous requirements of 'body-in-white' measurement, where fine angular position and
long reach are needed.
The PHS1 head is not locked into position in the same way as an indexing head. Instead
it is driven to approximately the required position and, when a probing point is taken,
the axes of the head latch simultaneously with the axes of the CMM to give accurate
probe readings. The head is protected by a built-in overtravel protection unit which
signals the machine to stop in the event of a collision.
A range of different probes can be fitted and automatically exchanged. These include
touch trigger probes, laser measurement and trigger probes and scanning probes. Extra
long extensions allow the Renishaw trigger probes to reach normally inaccessible features.
A kinematic mount (KM1 or KM2) allows quick fixing of the head to the machine and
a fast changeover to a PH10 system (utilising a PHA1 or PHA2)
The ACR2 autochange rack is an arm changing system for the PHS1 head system. It allows
probe extensions or adaptors to be exchanged to suit the probing task required without
manual intervention. Its modular construction and simple operation enable any number
of racks to be positioned on a pillar anywhere within the machine volume. The rack
is pasive, all locking and unlocking of adaptors and extensions is done by the motion
of the machine.
